The Anglo-Austrian Society

The Anglo-Austrian Society actively promotes social and cultural exchange, and dialogue between the UK and Austria. Our aim is to strengthen Austro-British relations in all aspects of public and cultural life.

We are an independent registered charity formed of people from all backgrounds. The Society enjoys the support of the governments of both Austria and the United Kingdom.

Schloss Hof buildingSchloss Hof This summer, with friends, I visited Schloss Hof, which lies to the North East of Vienna, near Marchfield, close to the border with Slovakia. What a revelation and stunning surprise!

Vienna top in Mercer’s City Rankings 2010

Mercer’s Quality of Living Survey is released annually, comparing 221 cities based on 39 criteria. Vienna came top ahead of Zurich and Geneva.

Antony Gormley: Horizon Field - A Landscape Installation in the High Austrian Alps

Antony Gormley's Horizon Field consist of 100 life-size, solid cast iron figures of the human body spread over an area of 150 square kilometers in Vorarlberg, Austria.

Events


This year Austria and the world of music celebrates the anniversaries of three great Operetta Composers. Franz Lehar, Oscar Straus and Robert Stolz are all being remembered this Autumn both in Vienna and England. There will Robert Stolz Concerts in London and Oxford in October.
